The Honours course was introduced in the following year with the sole vision to cater to the growing academic needs of the students. Since then, the department has witnessed increasing number of students with each passing year, both in the Honours and General courses. It has abundant collections of various geographical books and data Sheets in its Seminar Library for ready reference to the faculty members and students. Besides, the library of the college is being enriched each year with complimentary copies of the reference books that are easy available to the students and teachers. It offers 3 years B.Sc. (Honours and General) courses under the up-to-date CBCS syllabi of the West Bengal State University from 2018. Prior to 2008, both the Honours and General courses of the department used to follow the University of Calcutta curriculum.
